Louisiana Car Insurance Overview

Louisiana Auto Insurance Information
Bodily Injury Liability (BIL)
Under Louisiana law, motorists must carry a minimum of $15,000 per person and $30,000 per accident in Bodily Injury Liability (BIL) insurance. This covers medical and other accident-related expenses for the other driver, cyclist or pedestrian when the accident is the insured’s fault.
Property Damage Liability (PDL)
The state also requires a minimum of $25,000 in Property Damage Liability (PDL) insurance, which covers repairs or replacement to the other vehicle when the insured was at fault. Keep in mind these are the minimum requirements, and it is wise to purchase additional coverage in case of a serious accident so that personal assets are not at risk.
